Meet Director Renae Bartholomew
I have been a part of the Weinacker’s Montessori team since January 2016, and have recently moved into the position of Director. My family relocated to the Mobile area from east Texas where I was born and raised. I have always loved being around and working with children, volunteering at numerous summer camps through my school days. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and in English at Texas State University, and have teacher’s certification in both subjects. I utilized my degree in both the public and private school sectors, and found that I really enjoy working with preschool aged children. I am also an avid gymnast and have either competed in the sport or coached it for over 15 years. In my free time, I love being outdoors with my family, finding new adventures.”
Meet the Teachers
My name is Annya Garcia and I began teaching at Weinacker’s Montessori School in the fall of 2008. I graduated from Bishop State Community College with a degree in Early Childhood Education in 2012. In 2013 I received my Montessori Early Childhood Certification. I am very excited to be able to work with the Preschool classroom because it is my favorite grade to teach! I love seeing them learn through play and exploration.
I am originally from Bogota, Colombia. I moved to the United States in 2003. I have two children. In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my family.
Hola my name is Tulia Perez, Colombian, married for 28 years to Arturo Perez and have two children Alex and Meredith Perez. I am a Preschool Education Graduate from Corporation Institute of Art and Science in Barranquilla, Colombia. Since my early adulthood in Colombia, I have always enjoyed working with children and I began working at Weinacker’s Montessori as a Spanish Teacher in 2005. I have obtained various training certifications such as NAMC International Montessori Teaching Diploma in May 2008, three years 2008-2011 under the OSR Alabama’s Office of School Readiness, The Montessori Foundation in November 2009, CDA Child Development Associate in November 2009, and am a 2013 recipient of AMS American Montessori Society training certification.
Aside from my workplace I participate and collaborate in Mobile’s Catholic Hispanic Ministry Parish as our Youth Group leader, Catechesis, and as The Proclaimer’s of Gospel Coordinator. With much gratitude I appreciate the opportunity to provide my talents to serve our beautifully harmonious Weinacker’s Montessori Community.
Much love, Tulia Perez
My name is Miranda Lambert. I am 27 years old and I have been with Weinacker’s Montessori School since 2009. I have completed prenatal – 3 Years training from the Montessori Teacher Education Center. I am currently studying for my Bachelor of Arts at the University of South Alabama majoring in Theatre with a minor in Sociology.
My role in the classroom, as a Montessori teacher, is not considered the traditional role of the teacher. I think of myself as a guide. I prepare the classroom with the work that the children need, I direct them in their daily activities, and offer them support whenever they need it.
My personal philosophy for education is very natural. I believe that children benefit from the freedom to educate themselves. Our work is extremely “hands-on” and multi-sensory. This allows the children to take their education literally into their own hands and learn on different levels.
My name is Ella Barren. I am the infant room co-teacher. I work with the youngest infants. I have been with Weinacker’s Montessori School since 1995. I have attended many Montessori trainings and conferences over the years to broaden my knowledge. Working with young children is my passion.
